Our first China Joy!

by Yolanda Jin on Aug 4, 2016

Just last week AppLovin co-sponsored a big event in Asia — China Joy, otherwise known as the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference. Held in Shanghai, It’s the largest annual conference of its kind in Asia, and it showcases all sorts of digital games (online, console, and web) as well as hardware. This year over the course of the four days of the conference, a total of 325,000 people attended, including players and consumers.

AppLovin hosted a Tea Break Thursday afternoon where our guests mingled and networked, and we had a private meeting room where we met with customers and prospective customers.

As is the case at so many digital conferences this year, VR was huge, and I myself tried on the HTC VIVE and had an amazing shooting experience with the controller. Other highlights included e-sports tournaments, networking events hosted by local live streaming apps, and cruise parties on Huangpu River.

One of the key takeaways for me was China’s mobile industry is still rapidly growing, and there’re tons of business opportunities not only in the local market, but also for companies that are eager to grow in the overseas market.

I’m back in Beijing now, and I’m looking forward to another, much smaller event we’ve got planned here: Canapes + Best Practices at the Rosewood Hotel on August 18. So if you’re in Beijing, register and learn from a great line-up of speakers from companies including SOULGAME, Cheetah Mobile, AppsFlyer, and App Annie. We will talk in-depth about the growing value and practicality of video ads when it comes to user acquisition and monetization on mobile. Hope to see you there!
