Merry Times in Cupertino: Apple TV Usage Sees 44% Christmas Bump
The numbers are in, and It looks like holiday sales of the Apple TV have Apple executives decking the halls in Cupertino.
According to AppLovin data (derived from our SDK for tvOS), the Apple TV was a very popular gift this Christmas, with usage growing 44% from Sunday December 20th to Sunday December 27th. Between December 24th and 26th alone, usage grew by 36%.
(Reported usage is derived from the number of ad impressions over the period served from hundreds of apps which utilize the AppLovin SDK.)
Games and streaming apps have dominated the top free and top grossing charts in the Apple TV App Store since the device’s release; these trends have continued unabated over the Christmas holiday weekend and the days immediately after. Games also maintain their hold on the top paid charts.
The new Apple TV and tvOS are still very new and growing at an incredible rate, showing no signs of slowing down. JP Morgan predicts that Apple will ship 24 million 4th Generation Apple TV units in 2016, which is why it’s so important for developers to establish a presence on the tvOS platform.
