AppLovin’s in the Inc. 5000! Here’s who else is.
Inc. just released its annual list of the fastest growing companies in America, and we’re happy to be listed among the top 100 (at #68). As AdExchanger reported, about 10 percent the list includes companies in marketing and advertising, and that speaks to the positive growth for our industry. Beyond being in good company from our specific industry, I took a look at some of the other companies that made the list. Since we work with a high volume of consumer product apps, I was intrigued by those that made it that offer consumer products and have terrific apps. Here are just a few:
Dollar Shave Club
At #65, Dollar Shave Club has been all over the media lately with its recent acquisition by Unilever; the subscription razor service is known both for its success and its fantastic marketing. (Who could forget this bit of YouTube genius?) But it turns out that Dollar Shave Club also has a great app with shining reviews. It makes adjusting your shipping frequency or adding items to the order super easy. Bonus points for the app’s “Bathroom Minutes” feature, which has funny, on-brand quick reads and tips, e.g. “Will I Look Like Someone Off Jersey Shore If My Barber Trims My Brows?” and “Oh FAQ, How Do I Steam My Clothes In the Shower?”.
TickPick, where “smart fans buy and sell tickets” came in at #90. Its app is highly rated — users love that the app is easy to use and the tickets are a great value. I love that as soon as I launch it, I can see that Jerry Seinfeld is performing nearby tonight, and with two clicks I’ve selected my seats and gotten my tickets.
Coming in at #104, (and our neighbor down in Silicon Valley), ipsy sends users personalized goodie bags of makeup once a month for just $10 — kind of like my favorite clothing subscription, Stitch Fix, which regularly sends a box of clothes chosen just for me by a stylist. ipsy’s app has nearly 4,000 ratings, and users love it because it’s easy to check your account and see daily deals. Users start with a great quiz that zeros in on their tastes and habits, the better to tailor the goodie bags.
Touch of Modern
Landing at #147, Touch of Modern offers shoppers unique, high quality clothing, accessories and home goods; members-only prices; and a simply beautiful app. One user called it “flawless” while another shared, “I love this app! I can always find something for my 17- and 21-year-old and also for my 90-year-old father.” The app’s sales last for 5 days, and I can shop by “store” (everything from art to denim) and find and buy an unusual item in just a couple of clicks. Plus, when I’m eyeing an item, it lets me know if there are only a few left, so I know to act fast. Now I know my new go-to app for birthday presents!
