Announcing the Apple TV App Challenge

by Basil Shikin on Feb 8, 2016

If you’re an iOS developer, chances are you’ve already been thinking about a tvOS app, or maybe you’ve already started building one.

If so, you don’t want to miss participating in the Apple TV App Challenge, hosted by AppLovin. We are proud to announce early sponsors and partners in Fabric, Facebook, and Gitlab.

Here’s what you need to know:

The Challenge consists of two separate competitions: The tvOS App Contest and the tvOS Hackathon. Finalists in both competitions will be awarded great prizes (as much as $25,000!), plus the chance to demo their apps to VCs, journalists, and other influencers.

The tvOS App Contest

The Contest is for full-featured apps, and the deadline is midnight PST, March 31, 2016. You can submit an app that you’ve already been working on, but it can’t be an update, sequel, or port of an existing published app. Judges from the industry will look for creative, visionary apps that reflect the advantages and innovations of the tvOS platform. Prizes include $25,000 to the winner, $5,000 to second place, and $1,000 to third place.

The tvOS App Hackathon

The Hackathon is a 24-hour event held at our San Francisco offices; we challenge participants to build the coolest apps they can in a day. Two Hackathon winners will be awarded $5,000 each. AppLovin will host the Hackathon the weekend of April 16-17.

Finalists from both the Contest and the Hackathon will have the opportunity to demo their apps before VCs, press, and a range of industry leaders during an App Challenge showcase on Sunday, April 17, again at our San Francisco offices.

The Apple TV App Challenge is remarkable opportunity for developers, and we are proud to host it. Find out more about both the Contest and the Hackathon, see the full rules and regulations, and register for the events here.
